A vacuum pump is a device used to remove gas molecules from a sealed volume. The job of a vacuum pump is to generate a relative vacuum within a capacity.
positive displacement pumps use a mechanism to repeatedly expand a cavity, allow gases to flow in from the chamber, seal off the cavity, and exhaust it to the atmosphere. These positive displacement pumps used to generate rough vacuum and also there are used as a backup to the momentum transfer pumps, also called molecular pumps and entrapment pumps.
Molecular pumps are used to generate high vacuum in a closed vessele. These pumps use high speed jets of dense fluid or high speed rotating blades to knock gas molecules out of the chamber. Entrapment pumps capture gases in a solid or adsorbed state. This inclues cryo pumps, ion pumps. Vacuum pumps are combined with chambers and operational procedures into a wide variety of vacuum systems.

Helium Leak Detector

A helium leak detector also known as a mass spectrometer leak detector (msld), is used to locate and measure the small leaks into or out of a system. The tracer gas, helium is used to find a leak in the test part that is connected to the leak detector. Leak testing can be done either in evacuation method or sniff method.
